The World of Music, Arts, and Dance, also known as WOMAD, is a three-day festival held yearly in the coastal city of New Plymouth. WOMAD attracts people from all over the country and overseas, and this year’s event was even more special because, not only has WOMAD returned after a two-year hiatus due to Covid, it is also WOMAD’s 20th anniversary. I was quite excited when PSNZ announced the WOMAD Workshop late last year. I knew it would be popular, so I really wasn’t surprised when I was told that it was already booked out. I felt bad about missing out but, since To View More >>
The Delightful Mr D The Delightful Mr D I love capturing the images of children (which is why I do a lot of kindergarten photos) but sometimes, it can be quite challenging. ‘Love is too beautiful to be hidden in the closet.’ -Unknown Meet Doe and Jay. Doe is a professional dancer and Jay is an ECE teacher - they are based in Rotorua and were in New Plymouth for a weekend when they decided to have their family portraits taken. They have been together for nearly twenty years - but have never been able to openly express their love for one another - at least not until they moved to New Zealand. You see, Doe and Jay are both from a very conservative and very Catholic To View More >>
This is Gorgeous Little Miss E. Last June, I was asked by her mum to cover her 1st birthday party. Mum had someone photograph her first born's birthday and she found having an event photographer around (even if it's just for a child's birthday) helped her A LOT. It's one less task to delegate and worry about thus, she, her family and friends, can focus on what's important - celebrating Little Miss E's special day. Little Miss E's party was scheduled in August -and we all know what happened then, right? Yep, Level 4 LOCKDOWN (thank you, Covid). So we rescheduled for September To View More >>
As a child, I vividly remember wanting to fill my home with beautiful photos of all the places I've been to and of the people I love. I wanted my home to look pretty. So, when I bought a house, I recall purchasing a big carton of picture frames to get me started on that ambitious project. Obviously, hanging those photos kinda didn't happen - but that's a different story. Anyway, now that I'm older, I've come to realise that having a wall, full of photos is not just about making a home nicer to look at or filling up space. It's actually all To View More >>
